Scrip Program
SCRIP is a major source of revenue used to meet AMPA’s financial commitment to the school and contributes to offsetting the actual cost of educating a child at AMS.
How the scrip program works: Families purchase local and national vendor gift cards and certificates through the in-person scrip desk or the online program - RaiseRight. Each gift card or certificate yields a percentage of profit to the school. That profit is what goes towards the family’s scrip obligation as outlined in the parent agreement. Each family is obligated to generate $250 in profit from purchasing scrip by March 15th. The scrip program runs from March 16th through March 15th. School families will receive a status on their earnings four times a year.
Two ways to purchase scrip:
• In person: Stop by the Welcome Center on Monday through Thursday from 8am to 4pm or on Friday from 8am to 1pm and purchase in person. (If those times are not convenient, email us at the address below and we can arrange to schedule a pickup.). You can pay cash, check or a credit card (note there is a 3% fee for credit card transactions.
• Online: Open an online account through RaiseRight. See instructions on the the SchoolSpeak Scrip Page. Bonus - Registration Discount: If a family earns $350 in scrip profit, one-half of all profit over $350 will be credited to family’s re-registration in April for the upcoming school year.
Buy Out: For those who would prefer to buy out of the scrip program obligation, the amount is $400. Please make your check payable to AMPA and drop it at the Welcome Center. The amount increases on October 1st to $425 and on December 1st the buyout is $450.
Grocery Stores & Ralphs Rewards
Gift card/paper scrip can be purchased for several major grocery chains.
For families that shop at Ralphs, register your Rewards Card at Ralphs.com to get scrip credit for your purchases (our NPO is American Martyrs Parent Association, # TP185). Registration must be renewed annually, effective September 1.
For any on-line services, friends and family may also register their cards to our organization. After they register on-line, send an email to the scrip office listing those families earning credit on your behalf. If we are not notified of their registrations and names, credits earned will be applied to the general school account.
Your Scrip Account
Your scrip account is tracked through your Family Name. The first time you purchase scrip, note "NEW FAMILY" on your order form so an account can be set up for you. After that, make sure you put your Family Name in the "Credit to" box on the scrip order form.
At the end of the scrip year, profits from each source are added together: paper scrip purchases, + grocery store credits + e-Scrip purchases. If you fall short of your Scrip Profit commitment, you will be billed for the difference between the $250 commitment and your profit earned.
The “Scrip Year” runs from March 16 to March 15- we close our books in March to allow adequate time to prepare statements, collect any outstanding balances and issue tuition credits.
