Meet Ms. Ignacio

Hello! My name is Alyssa Ignacio and I am proud to be a part of the AMS community. I am a SoCal native who grew up in the San Fernando Valley. I am a proud product of Catholic School education, having attended St. Catherine of Siena Elementary School and Bishop Alemany High School as a child. I went on to UC San Diego, where I earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. I also hold a Bachelor of Science in Cell and Molecular Biology from CSU Northridge, a Master of Arts in Education and Certificate in Catholic School Leadership from Loyola Marymount University, and a California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential.

I began my career in education returning to my elementary school as a Junior High teacher in 2012. I have since worn many hats, including 8th grade teacher, STEP Coordinator, Technology Coordinator and Vice Principal. I am happy to now serve as the 7th & 8th grade Technology teacher and member of the Technology Team at AMS. My favorite part of working with Junior High students is helping them to grow in confidence and embrace what makes them unique. My teaching philosophy is rooted in the words of St. Catherine of Siena– “Be who God meant you to be and you will set the world on fire.”

When I am not in “teacher mode,” I spend a lot of time at the beach or hiking with my dog Oreo. I am an avid movie goer, and am often at my local AMC getting caught up on new releases. I am a dedicated Lakers and Chargers fan, and spend Sundays during football season with the game on while working on different projects.
