Greetings! My name is Valerie Alameda-deGuzman and I am currently an assistant in fifth and sixth grades at American Martyrs School. I joined American Martyrs in 2005 initially working in 1st Grade and then transitioned to upper school in 2007. I have been privileged to work in 5th through 8th grade with more than 20 amazing teachers during my time in upper school.

Previous to joining the school, I worked as an engineer for 22 years in the Space and Defense industry. Changing careers allowed me more time to spend with my children, and gave me the opportunity to discover my new passion, teaching!

My husband Nathan and I have two children, Gabrielle and Kai, who graduated from American Martyrs in 2010 and 2014, respectively. We are parishioners of American Martyrs Church, and love being a part of this faith community. I teach first year faith formation through our SRE program and serve as a Eucharistic minister.

I spend most of my free time discovering new places to explore, attending sporting/music events, and socializing with friends.
My favorite song is "Humble and Kind", and my ultimate place to relax and rejuvenate, is Big Sur.
