Getting to know Mrs. Schwan
This year marks my 21st year at American Martyrs School and my 36th year of teaching PE! I began coaching, teaching and directing athletics at 18, at St. Margaret Mary School in Lomita. In 1999 when my son started kindergarten here at AMS, I started as the PE teacher and athletic director!
I had the pleasure of coaching the boys Varsity Volleyball team from 2002-2015 and share the best memories and 10 CYO championships with a great group of alumni! In 2014 as head coach of the girls Varsity Volleyball, the girls made appearances in the next four finals, finishing with CYO championship in 2017!
Over the years I have been a part of numerous Parish and school activities and I also serve as one of the Student Council Moderators.
In the past 8 years, I've earned a Bachelors degree in Applied Psychology and a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology (Marriage and Family Therapy) in May 2019.
My passion has always been to instill a love for lifelong fitness and overall wellness. My approach to teaching is driven by my faith and an authentic care for the spiritual, physical and emotional health of our students.
I wish you a happy and healthy school year!
