Science

Students are exposed to Life Science, Earth Science, and Physical Science.  The curriculum offers hands-on opportunities and experiments that enable students to develop a deeper understanding of science concepts and skills while thinking “like a scientist.”  Once a week, students in Kindergarten through 5th grade attend STEM lab. STEM lab gives students opportunities to problem solve and collaborate on rigorous challenges that integrate science, technology, engineering, and math.  6th graders participate in “STEM week” once a trimester and students in grades 7th and 8th grade attend science class in a dedicated laboratory setting. 7th and 8th Grades participate in the Los Angeles County Science Fair. Science resources include curriculum from Carolina Curriculum: Building Blocks of Science(Grades K-2), Pearson Interactive Science (Grades 3-5), and Cambridge Physics Outlet (CPO) (Grades 6-8).
